As energy policy and security of supply rise up the political agenda in Europe and beyond, hydrogen finds itself back in the spotlight. The EU has increased by two times its target for green hydrogen as it seeks to cut its dependency on Russian oil and gas. At the same time, record fossil fuels prices have helped close the cost gap for a clean energy source that its supporters claim has limitless potential. While policy support is strengthening globally, progress on large scale projects has been slow and questions about the availability of cheap renewable power remain unanswered.
