The 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference, hosted by the United Arab Emirates, is taking place at a critical time to ensure the global policy environment is on course to meet 2030 climate targets. At COP28, countries and stakeholders will conduct the world’s first global stocktake to assess the results of their collective action to curb climate change. The assessment is bound to set the stage for what the coming years may hold for global climate action and will find that much work remains to be done to meet ambitious targets.
Despite global efforts to reduce emissions following the 2015 Paris Agreement, it is evident that the needs of the developing world paired with the urgent need to reach net-zero targets is confirmation that inclusivity in the climate conversation is critical.
The Global Energy Center (GEC) will deploy its convening power and vision for climate action and energy innovations on the ground in Dubai to engage in dialogue; host its flagship event, the Global Energy Forum; and provide timely commentary and analysis on developments and outcomes at the climate conference.
